18 NOVEMBER 1808 Birth of composer Antoine-Amable-Elie ELWART....aka Aimable-Antoine Elie Elwart (born 18 or 19 November 1808 in Paris; died 14 October 1877 ibid) was a French composer, music educator and scholar. Elwart composed numerous motets, sacred songs, oratorios, several operas, five symphonies, six overtures, chamber music works, including thirty string quartets, four quintets and three trios and choral works. A complete edition of his works was distroyed during the Franco-German War of 1870.
